Bunkhouse kitchen

Located in a converted sheep barn, this kitchen compliments the surrounding sense of the old west in this Santa Ynez ranch. This cabinetry was fabricated entirely of recycled building lumber and the curved mouldings were shaped by hand tools.

The French Bistro

This kitchen is entered by passing through truly French french doors actually removed from an old sidewalk bistro in France and imported to the United States. The home owner wanted to carry that same 'old-european' flavor of these unique doors into the kitchen area. We therefore incorporated a large clock dial into an over-sized stepback hutch to suggest of a public area and created furniture-styled cabinetry to carry through with the idea. The wood was from recycled sources and distressed already which gave an inherently aged sense to the work. We forged the cabinet hinges at the shop.

The Moroccan

Moroccan influence was central to the design and furnishings of this home. We used the plastered surfaces of the island, range hood and cabinet bases to introduce a primitive hand-made element into this kitchen. We followed through with varying styles of wooden cabinets and finishes to give an "unfit" appearance of variety and interest. The island bar top was shaped from a solid slab of walnut, hand planed, then iron-banded with rivets forged at the shop.
